چکیده

The first applications of acoustic devices to chemical detection were proposed by Sauerbray in 1959 [1]. For application in liquid media, mainly quartz microbalance (QCM) sensors have been investigated. Recent works on Love waves devices for gas detection have demonstrated definitely their superiority, in particular in term of mass loading effect sensitivity [2]. As the shear horizontal polarization allows working with an adjacent liquid, three years ago, we decided to demonstrate similar potentialities for biochemical detection. An interdisciplinary and successful collaboration between immunologists and electronics researchers allowed realtime detection based on an immunological model with a Love wave device [3]. In quite the same time, a German team has led similar works with the same immunological species on QCM devices [4]. They used very sensitive QCM devices, obtained by locally thinning quartz crystals, which allows to realize high fundamental frequency (HFF) QCM.

Theory of QCM and SAW Devices in Sensors and Biosensors Applications

The surface acoustic waves-based (SAW) sensors and the quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) are widely employed for the ultrasensitive surface mass detection in volatile organic compounds and air quality control measurements. In ‘wet’’ conditions, the linear relation (Sauerbrey) between the rigidly attached small amount of deposited mass (the principle of a quartz microbalance) can be violated in ...

Influence of the Imperfect Interface on Love-Type Mechanical Wave in a FGPM Layer

In this study, we consider the propagation of the Love-type wave in piezoelectric gradient covering layer on an elastic half-space having an imperfect interface between them. Dispersion relation has been obtained in the form of determinant for both electrically open and short cases. The effects of different material gradient coefficients of functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) and ...

Compressive and rarefactive dust-ion acoustic solitary waves in four components ‎quantum plasma with dust-charge variation

Based on quantum hydrodynamics theory (QHD), the propagation of nonlinear quantum dust-ion acoustic (QDIA) solitary waves in a ‎collision-less, unmagnetized four component quantum plasma consisting of electrons, positrons, ions and stationary negatively charged ‎dust grains with dust charge variation is investigated using reductive perturbation method. The charging current to the dust grains ca...

Determination of sediments diameter using acoustic waves

The use of acoustic waves in researches related to sea water is of most importance among scientists recently. Since these waves are the only waves, transmitted in water with lowest attenuation and high speed, they can be used in many scientific fields. The main goal of this research is to better understand the physics and mechanisms of sound-seabed interaction, including acoustic penetration, p...

Effect of Micropolarity on the Propagation of Shear Waves in a Piezoelectric Layered Structure

This paper studies the propagation of shear waves in a composite structure consisting of a piezoelectric layer perfectly bonded over a micropolar elastic half space. The general dispersion equations for the existence of shear waves are obtained analytically in the closed form. Some particular cases have been discussed and in one special case the relation obtained is in agreement with existing r...
